Oscillations and Waves - Simple Harmonic Motion Flashcards
1
Q
simple harmonic motion
A
- oscillatory motion under a retarding force proportional to the amount of displacement from an equilibrium position
- Amplitude A = how large the oscillation is = distance from the middle (EP) to the ends. Unit = m
- Period T = how much time an oscillation takes = how many seconds per one oscillation.
Unit = s
- Period T = how much time an oscillation takes = how many seconds per one oscillation.
- T = seconds / oscillations
- Frequency f = how many oscillations happen per second. Unit = Hz, “Hertz”, = osc/sec.
- f = oscillations / seconds
