Pain hx Associated features: vision, discharge, pruritus, xerophthalmia, haloes Systemic enquiry Ddx Conjunctivitis Infectious keratitis (usually contact lens or immunosuppressed) - needs ophthal ref Acute angle-closure glaucoma: commonly in evening (mid-dilated pupil) - don't dilate for examination Acute anterior uveitis: photophobia and deeper pain - HLA-B27 associated Episcleritis: often recurrent, dull ache, redness Scleritis: tearing pain +++, often recurrent and affects both eyes (not usually simultaneously), strongly associated with rheum stuff Subconjunctival haemorrhage
