Strategic
Management needs to adjust strategy in order to achieve goals - may need to adjust the mission statement in response
Company may need to change:
Target market, products, how products are sold, level of global activity, partnerships
Structural
Organisations find it necessary to redesign the structure of the company due to influences from the external environment
Structural change involves:
Hierarchy of authority, goals, structural characteristics, administrative procedures, management systems
Process-orientated
Organisations may need to reengineer processes to achieve optimum workflow and productivity
E.g. The adoption of robotics in manufacturing
Workflow - taking raw materials and making them into products. A workflow hasn’t changed if the same products are being made but instead of people it’s by robots.
People-Centered
Type of change which alters attitudes, behaviours and skills of employees
Changing people-centered involves communicating, motivating etc.
May entail changing how problems are solved, the way employees learn new skills and even how employees perceive themselves.
