What do leaders do?
Organise a team
Create a vision
Motivate and inspire
Manage the delivery of the vision and modify it
Difference between managers and leaders
Managers - enact the plan, use authority, manage risks, have subordinates
Leaders - inspire people, build relationships, take risks, have followers
Transformational vs Transactional
Leaders work to enhance motivation by directing behaviour towards the vision
Managers are concerned about day to day progress towards goals
People focus vs operational focus
Gives employees flexibility and allows them to take risks. Focused on understanding potential customers.
Emphasis on the processes of running a business e.g. Budget, manufacture etc.
Risk seeking vs risk minimising
Attracted to risks
Deals with mitigating potential losses
