Ophthalmic Division Flashcards
Where does the Ophthalmic division enter the orbit?
superior orbital fissure
Where does the ophthalmic division carry sensory info of the skin over what features?
nose, forehead, scalp
What sinus mucus membranes are innervated by V1?
frontal and sphenoid sinuses and the membrane covering the nasal septum
What four branches are given off of V1?
meningeal nerve, lacrimal nerve, frontal nerve and nasociliary nerve (Many Look Forward to Nightclubs)
What is the other name for the meningeal nerve of the ophtalmic division of the trigeminal nerve?
tentorial branch
What branch of V1 supplies the dura in the middle cranial fossa?
meningeal nerve or tentorial branch
What nerve comes off of V1 before leaving the superior orbital fissure?
meningeal nerve
What is the smallest branch of V1?
lacrimal nerve
What muscle does the lacrimal nerve travel along, but does not innervate?
lateral rectus
What innervates the lacrimal gland?
lacrimal nerve
What nerve passes throught the lacrimal gland?
lacrimal nerve
What nerve of V1 supplies sensory info to the skin of the upper eyelid?
lacrimal
Other than sensory fibers, what kind of fibers are carried by the lacrimal nerve?
postganglionic parasympathetic (secretory) fibers
What ganglion do the parasympathetic fibers, which supply the lacrimal gland, originate?
pterygopalatine ganglion (CN VII)
How do nerves from the pterygopaltine ganglion reach te lacrimal nerve?
zygomatic nerve and zygomaticotemporal nerves (CN V2)
