Operate Emergency Equipment Flashcards
We have two types of fire extinguishers. What are they? On which classes of fires (A, B, C) can each be used?
Portable Halon Fire Extinguisher- ABC
Water Fire Extinguisher(1)- A only
How do you know if the flashlight is sufficiently charged?
Red status light flashes every 3-8 seconds
How do you know that the PBE is airworthy?
To preflight the PBE, verify the silver tamper seals on its storage container are intact. If the humidity indicator is blue the unit is serviceable and if the humidity is pink the unit must be removed from the service within 36 hours. Units that have lost vacuum remain serviceable as long as the humidity indicator color is blue. Broken seals or an indicator that’s turned pink require a call to Maintenance.
Once activated, how long will the PBE provide oxygen?
Oxygen flow will be supplied for at least 15 minutes.
Green oxygen quantity on the status page guarantees that three crewmembers have ___ minutes of total oxygen divided up into ___ minutes at 100% plus ____ minutes in NORM.
After loss of cabin pressure, sufficient oxygen is provided for all cockpit members to permit emergency descent from 41000 ft to 10000 ft in 22 minutes with mask regulator on 100% mode and continuing cruise at 10000ft for 98 minutes with mask regulator on NORMAL mode
In the event you inadvertently deploy the emergency escape slide, what should you do other than hope you can keep your job? (That was a joke)
When a door handle is raised using the main handle while the door is armed and before escape slide deployment, stop and step away from the door.
-Ensure all personnel remain clear of the door
-Ensure the door is not used for egress/deplaning
-Immediately notify station personnel
-Arrange alternate means of passenger deplaning (preferably door L2)
-Notify and coordinate with Flight Attendants regarding the deplaning location and process
-Notify Maintenance Control
