What is the difference between groups and teams?
Teams rely on synergy to increase the level of performance to a degree greater than the sum of all indiviual inputs
What sort of teams are there?
o Problem-solving teams, teams for one distinct goal.
o Self-managed teams/work teams, Makes a recommendation but also implements this.
o Cross-functional teams, Made up of members from the same level but from different work areas.
o Virtual teams, teams with not physically present members.
On which 3 aspects does team effectiveness depend?
o Context,
Availability of resources, leadership and structure, climate of trust, performance evaluation and reward systems.
o Team composition
Abilities of members, personality of members, Allocation of roles, diversity of members, size of teams, Member preferences
o Team processes
Common plan and purpose, Specific goals, team efficacy, mental models, conflict levels, social loafing
How can you turn individuals into team players?
o Selecting hire team players
o Training creating team players
o Rewarding, providing incentives to be a good team player
