Decisive action
The continuous, simultaneous combinations of offensive, defensive, and stability or defense support of civil authorities tasks

Offensive tasks
Tasks conducted to defeat and destroy enemy forces and seize terrain, resources, and population centers.
Tasks include: movement to contact, attack, exploitation, and pursuit
Defensive tasks
Tasks conducted to defeat an enemy attack, gain time, economize forces, and develop conditions favorable for offensive and stability tasks.
Tasks include: mobile defense, area defense, and retrograde
Stability task
Military missions, tasks, and activities conducted outside the U.S. to maintain or reestablish a safe and secure environment and to provide essential governmental services, emergency infrastructure reconstruction, and humanitarian relief.
Tasks include: establish civil security/civil control, restore essential services, support to governance, and support to economic and infrastructure development.
What is homeland defense/DSCA?
Represents DoD support of U.S. civil authorities for domestic emergencies, law enforcement support, and other domestic activities, or from qualifying entities for special events
Tasks include: provide support for domestic disasters, CBRN/explosive incidents, civil law enforcement agencies, COVID/medical, etc.
What is mission command?
Army’s approach to command and control that empowers subordinate decision making and decentralized execution appropriate to the situation.
