A

superior borders of 2nd or 3rd ribs below

23
Q

Innervation: Subcostal

A

intercostal nerve (T1- T11)

24
Q

Action: Subcostal

A

Depresses ribs

probably act in same mannar intercostal muscles?

25
Origin: Transversus Thoracis
posterior surface of lower sternum
26
Insertion: Transversus Thoracis
internal surface of costal cartilages 2-6
27
Innervation: Transversus Thoracis
intercostal nerve (T1- T11)
28
Action: Transversus Thoracis
weekly depress ribs proprioception?
29
Origin: Sternocleidomastoid (SCM)
lateral surfcae of mastoid process of temporal bone and lateral half of superior nuchal line
30
Insertion: Sternocleidomastoid (SCM)
Sternal head: anterior surface of manubrium of sternum Clavicular Head: superior surface of medial third of clavicle
31
Innervation: Sternocleidomastoid (SCM)
Spinal Accessory nerve (CN XI; motor) & C2 and C3 nerves (pain and proprioception)
32
Action: Sternocleidomastoid (SCM)
Unilateral Contraction: tilts head to same side (lateral flexion) and rotates it so face is turned superiorly toward opposite (contralateral) side Bilateral contraction: (1) extends neck at atlantooccipital joints, (2) flexes cervical vertebrae so that chin approaches manubrium, or (3) extends superior cervical certebrae while flexing inferior vertebrae so chin is thrust forward with head kept level W/ cervical certebrae fixed, may elevate manubrium and medial ends of clavicles, assisting pumphandle action of deep respiration
33
Origin: Diaphragm
Thoracic outlet
34
Insertion: Diaphragm
central tendon of diaphragm
35
Innervation: Diaphragm
phrenic nerve (C3- C5)
36
Action: Diaphragm
compresses abdominal cavity by decreasing pressure in thoracic cage so air can go into lungs
37
Origin: Anterior Scalene
Transverse processes of C3- C6
38
Insertion: Anterior Scalene
1st rib
39
Innervation: Anterior Scalene
cervical spinal nerves C4-C6
40
Action: Anterior Scalene
Flex Head
41
Origin: Middle Scalene
posterior tubercles of transverse processes of C5 - C7 vertebrae
42
Insertion: Middle Scalene
superior surface of 1st rib; posterior to groove for subclavain artery
43
Innervation: Middle Scalene
anterior rami of cervical spinal nerves
44
Action: Middle Scalene
flexes neck laterally ; elevates 1st rib during foced inspiration
45
Origin: Posterior Scalene
posterior tubercles of transverse processes of C5 - C7 vertebrae
46
Insertion: Posterior Scalene
external border of 2nd rib
47
Innervation: Posterior Scalene
anterior rami of cervical apinal nerves C7 & C8
48
Action: Posterior Scalene
flexs neck laterally ;elevates 2nd rib during forced inspiration
49
Origin: Levator Scapulae
posterior tubercles of transverse processes of C2 - C6 vertebrae
50
Insertion: Levator Scapulae
superior part of medial border of scapula
51
Innervation: Levator Scapulae
dorsal scapular nerve C5 and cervical spinal nerves C3 and C4
52
Action: Levator Scapulae
downward rotation of scapula and tilits its glenoid cavity inferiorly by rotating scapula
