O & I: Forearm Flexors Flashcards
Origin: Pronator Teres
Ulnar Head: Coronoid Process
Humeral Head: Medial epicondyle of humerus (common flexor origin)
Insertion: Pronator Teres
Middle of convexity of lateral surface of radius
Innervation: Pronator Teres
Median nerve (C6, C7)
Action: Pronator Teres
Pronates and flexes forearm (at elbow)
Origin: Flexor Carpi Radialis (FCR)
Medial epicondyle of humerus
Insertion: Flexor Carpi Radialis (FCR)
Base of 2nd metacarpal
Innervation: Flexor Carpi Radialis (FCR)
Median Nerve (C6, C7)
Action: Flexor Carpi Radialis (FCR)
Flexes and abducts hand (at wrist)
Origin: Palmaris Longus
Medial epicondyle of humerus
Insertion: Palmaris Longus
Distal half of flexor retinaculum and apex of palmar aponeurosis
Innervation: Palmaris Longus
Median nerve (C7, C8)
Action: Palmaris Longus
Flexes hand (at wrist) and tenses palmar aponeurosis
Origin: Flexor Carpi Ulnaris (FCU)
Humeral Head: Medial epicondyle of humerus
Ulnar Head: Olecranon and posterior border of ulna (via aponeurosis)
Insertion: Flexor Carpi Ulnaris (FCU)
Pisiform, hook of hamate, 5th metacarpal
Innervation: Flexor Carpi Ulnaris (FCU)
Ulnar Nerve (C7, C8)
Action: Flexor Carpi Ulnaris (FCU)
Flexes and adducts hand (at wrist)
Origin: Flexor Digitorum Superficialis (FDS)
Humero-ulnar Head: medial epicondyle and coronoid process
Radial Head: Superior half of anterior border
Insertion: Flexor Digitorum Superficialis (FDS)
Shafts of middle phalanges of medial four digits
Innervation: Flexor Digitorum Superficialis (FDS)
Median Nerve (C7, C8, T1)
Action: Flexor Digitorum Superficialis (FDS)
Flexes middle phalanges at proximal interphalangeal joints of middle four digits, acting more strongly, it also flexes promial phalanges at metacarpophalangeal joints
Origin: Flexor Digitorum Profundus (FDP)
Proximal three quarters of medial and anterior surfaces of ulna and interosseous membrane
Insertion: Flexor Digitorum Profundus (FDP)
Medial Part: Bases of distal phalanges of 4th and 5th digits
Lateral Part: Bases of distal phalanges of 2nd and 3rd digits
Innervation: Flexor Digitorum Profundus (FDP)
Medial Part: Ulnar Nerve (C8, T1)
Lateral Part: Anterior interosseous nerve, from median nerve (C8, T1)
Action: Flexor Digitorum Profundus (FDP)
Medial Part: Flexes distal phlanges 4 and 5 at distal interphlangeal joints
Lateral Part: Flexes distal phlanges 2 and 3 at distal interphalangeal joints
