Nutrient Cycling Flashcards
1
Q
Nutrient Cycling
A
the movement and exchange of essential nutrients through different components of an ecosystem
2
Q
Explain the nutrient cycle.
A
Plants obtain the nutrients they need for growth from the soil. These passed onto animals when the plant is eaten. When plants lose material such as leavess, and organisms die, decomposers release the trapped nutrients. Many of the nutrients are released back into the soil, where they are absorbed by plants. Some are relaesed into the atmosphere.
3
Q
How is carbon cycled?
A
between the atmosphere, living organisms, and fossil fuels and can also become trapped in the oceans and in rocks.
4
Q
How is nitrogen cycled?
A
