Pt seated, arm at side w/elbow flexed to 90 degrees. Instruct patient to make a fist, pronate and extend wrist. Stabilize patient’s forearm and stress wrist downward.
Cozen’s test
Pain in lateral elbow during Cozen’s test indicates?
Lateral epicondylitis
Pt seated with arm at side, elbow flexed to 90 degrees. Intern flexes and pronates the patient’s wrist while extending the elbow all in a smooth motion.
Mill’s test
Pt seated or standing. Arm flexed to 90 degrees, holding a dynamometer in hand w/wrist slightly extended. Patient squeezes, note grip strength. Then squeeze patient’s forearm just distal to lateral epicondyle and have them squeeze again, noting grip strength.
Kaplan’s Sign
Pt seated. Grasp patient’s hand and supinate and extend wrist. Then lift up on elbow to fully extend it. Looking for pain near medial elbow.
Medial epicondylitis test
Pt seated. With fingertips, tap ulnar nerve in the cubital tunnel (posterior elbow/distal humerus)
