Uncomplicated lower urinary tract infection

Mechanism of action
A
Metabolised in bacterial cells, the active metabolite damages bacterial DNA. Active against Gram negative and Gram positive.

Adverse effects
A
Should no be prescribed for pregnant women towards term or for babies in the first 3 months of life.
Contraindicated in renal impairment.
