  1. Peptic ulcer disease: for treatment and prevention of gastric and duodenal ulcers and NSAID-associated ulcers, although PPIs are more effective
  2. Gastro-oesophageal reflux disease (GORD) and dyspepsia for relief of symptoms.

Mechanism of action

A

Histamine H2-receptor antagonist - reduce gastric acid secretion by proton pump, which is regulated (in part) by H2 receptors.
