Mother with lot of experience with hospital & medical care.
Mum forcefully advocate for son. Unlikely to shy talking to doctors.
Likely to want to know how this could have happened.
May ask policy to check tubes after put them in.
Mum may want to know who is to blame
Since hospital did this, u hv a responsibility to get him better.
Clearly explain mistakes, consequence & proposed Rx
Apologise
Explain that Ix will occur
Family will be informed of Outcome of the investigation
Empathy. Anger is natural & understandable
Speak down.
TUBE WAS REPLACED NIGHT & UNFORTUNATELY IT WENT INTO HIS LUNG
THEY DIDN’T REALIZE SO FEEDS WENT INTO HIS LUNG
I AM AFRAID THIS IS BAD. IT HAS CAUSED SOME MAJOR DAMAGE TO HIS LUNG. SUPPORTED WITH MACHINE BUT STILL IN TROUBLE.
HE HAS BECOME VERY SICK & MIGHT GET EVEN WORSE.
THIS IS VERY SERIOUS AND WE ARE NOT SURE THAT HE WILL SURVIVE.
I AM SORRY THAT THIS HAS HAPPENED. I AM SORRY THT THIS HAS HAPPENED. I AM SORRY.
WE WILL OBVIOUSLY LOOK INTO HOW THIS HAPPENED.
I DON’T KNOW EXACTLY WHY IT DID AT THIS STAGE, BUT WE WILL FIND OUT.
