A
- from 9 months onwards to 4 years old
- helps with basic skills and are built in w/c deprived areas
- can also teach parents training and helps kids adapt better when theyre in real school

- policies that reduce social class achievement gap and make the education system fairer for w/c students

- still want to maintain these policies as they are still good for schools
- education reform act, new vocationalism, development of comprehensives

Education Maintenance allowance (EMA)
A
– meant for those who are 16 to 18
- helps with travel costs, resources and overcomes barriers for the w/c

Education Action Zones (EAZs)
A
- LEAs got given funding
- payed for breakfast clubs, homework clubs, extra teaching assistants, extra staff etc
- helped overcome the problems that material deprivation caused e.g lack of food, housing, lack of resources, space , quietness

City acadamies
A
- new schools in deprived areas
- where there were persistent sink schools they were shut and replaced with city academies
- helped raise achievement in high deprived areas

Specialist schools (marketisation policy)
A
- secondary schools that focus on one type of skill e.g acting/drama
- get extra funding for the resources in that specialism but still follow the national curriculum
- give a good USP as it means they can offer something else - allows people to choose what school they want to go to so they would get more help in the talent
HOWEVER - only benefits m/c students as you would need economic capital for things like travel

- introduced and grants were replaced with loans
- expanded marketisation into uni so students became consumers

- so those who felt they couldn’t attend university knew that they now could potentially have a chance
