A
- angela mcrobbie
- girls are socialised into a bedroom culture where their time is spent more at home with friends ( communicating games or literacy games )
- this increases literacy levels which helps with reading and eventually exams
Boys play more games and do more activities that often do not involve much wordplay e.g gaming , football which lowers literacy levels

Q
Globalisation and the decline in traditional male jobs
A
-two main changes
the internet
transport
- caused things and businesses to go from being national to international
- caused deindustrialisation as other countries have cheap labour that can import into country - only have to pay for the travel and not the workers
- leads to men losing their jobs and can bring about attitudes of fatalism as there was no job prospects
- means they do not get their qualifications
HOWEVER - ‘the lads’ view of what it means to be a man is outdated and views have changed to men being the breadwinner and the need to provide ( work more office jobs)
