Non pulmonic consonants

A
  • Made by obstructing the vocal tract during exhalation and make up the majority of consonants in the IPA.
  • Non pulmonic consonants are click, electives and implosives (they are all types of stop consonants)
  • Children who have hearing loss are more likely to use non pulmonic sounds.
  • All of these are uncommon except ejectives.
