Neurulation - Final Flashcards

1
Q

Describe the morphogenic processes of neurulation, and hinge points, cell movements etc.

A

1) The notoplate converge and extends to provide the neural plate via the planar cell polarity pathway. Medial hinge point forms and the neural plate tissue starts to elevate. Bending of the plate and closure is accomplish from the dorsal lateral hinge point. E and N cadherins, as well as folic acid are required for closure of neural crest.

Q

What forms the floor plate, and roof plate? What is the gradient of the neural tube?

A

Floor plate induced from Shh from the notochord. The Roof plate is induced by BMPs from the ectoderm. Ventral neural tube becomes motor neuron, and dorsal neural tube becomes interneurons.
