What are neurons?
The building blocks of the nervous system
What are dendrites?
Recieve stimuli and transports the signal toward the cell body/soma
What is the cell body/soma?
Contains the nucleus, mitochondria and other animal cell components
What are axons?
Generate nerve impulse and conduct them far away from the cell body/soma
What is the nucleus?
Tells the cell what to do, how to grow and when to reproduce
What is the axon terminal?
Changes electrical impuses into chemical messages to relay signals
What are dendrite tips?
Increases the area for recieving information
What is a myelin sheath?
Insulation that allows electrical impulses to transmit quickly and efficiently
What is a schwann cell?
Maintains and regenerates motor and sensory neurons of the PNS
What the node of ranvier?
Allows ions to diffuse in and out of the neuron, spreading the electrical signal down the axon
