Dysthymic
Condition that affects young adults most commonly. Reality is altered, episodic, perception is altered, hallucinations.
Schizophrenia
Condition where the person has no regard for self or others, abnormal lack of empathy. Combines w/ strongly amoral conduct masked by an ability to appear outwardly normal.
Psychopath (old term)
This person believes they are superior, grandiose, lack remorse, shallow emotions, need stimulation, pathological liar, violent
Sociopath/Antisocial
Multiple personalities, childhood trauma, can be a short term event.
Dissociative
Physical complaint w/ no organic pathology, entirely unconscious process
Somatoform Disorders
Convinced of a body flaw (real or imagined) & preoccupied w/ it (e.g. anorexa nervosa)
Dysmorphic disorder
Psychic conflict causing physical symptoms. Single physical impairment caused by emotional event.
Conversion disorder
Preoccupation w/ personal health or contracting illness
Hypochondriac
Delusional parasitosis, believes they are invaded by insects, parasites, hair, etc.
Morgellon’s disease
Individual exaggerates personal complaints
Münchausen syndrome
Caregiver inflicts harm on individual they are caring for
Münchausen by proxy
Constant excessive fear, hypervigilant.
General anxiety disorder
Repetitive thoughts/actions. Actions include; cleaning, checking, repeating, hoarding, touching, arranging, mental rituals
Obsessive/Compulsive
Fear & anxiety following an emotional event
PTSD
“In” reality most of the time, hard on themselves. Have low self esteem, defense mechanisms are working overtime
Neurosis
Transfer one drive to opposite expression
Reaction formation
Act out emotion on someone else
Displacement

Personality disorder where the person forgets on purpose (disguised anger)
Passive-Aggressive
Personality disorder where the person is overly dramatic, victim often, seductive
Histrionic
Personality disorder where the person lacks primary thinking process, manipulates facts
