Network Configurations Flashcards
What is the difference between IPV4 and IPV6?
IPV6 has more addresses, doesn’t broadcast, and has no fragmentation.
IPv4 is a 32-bit address, whereas IPv6 is a 128-bit hexadecimal address. IPv6 provides a large address space, and it contains a simple header as compared to IPv4.
What is VLAN?
A virtual local area network (VLAN) is a virtualized connection that connects multiple devices and network nodes from different LANs into one logical network.
What are the advantages of VLAN?
VLAN reduces the size of broadcast domains. VLAN allows you to add an additional layer of security. It can make device management simple and easier. You can make a logical grouping of devices by function rather than location.
What is DHCP?
Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol (DHCP) is a protocol for automatically assigning IP addresses and other configurations to devices when they connect to a network.
What is a DHCP reservation?
When you use DHCP IP reservation, you’re telling your Wi-Fi network to assign the same IP address to a specific device whenever that device connects to your network.
What is the difference between UDP and TCP?
TCP is a connection-oriented protocol, whereas UDP is a connectionless protocol. A key difference between TCP and UDP is speed, as TCP is comparatively slower than UDP. Overall, UDP is a much faster, simpler, and more efficient protocol, however, retransmission of lost data packets is only possible with TCP.
What are the 4 categories of IPV4?
A, B, C, D, and E. Each of them has its own set of IP addresses.

What is HSPA+?
HSPA+ is an advanced version of the 3G cellular radio technology known as wideband code division multiple access (W-CDMA). HSPA refers to high-speed packet access with an enhancement to W-CDMA that combines high-speed downlink packet access (HSDPA) and high-speed uplink packet access (HSUPA).
What are the differences between FTTC and FTTP?
FTTP is full fibre broadband that gives you a dedicated connection that runs directly from the exchange to your property. FTTC is part fibre broadband that uses fibre optic cables to the main exchange but then uses old copper wires to connect to properties.
What are the types of DSL?
