What are the signs of a failed or failing HDD?
A
- Clicking noises
- Write and read failures
- Constant LED activity
- OS not found on startup

How to troubleshoot a HDD not working?
A
- Check the BIOS that it is recognised
- Try the HDD in a new computer to see if it works there
- Check power supply cables and reconnect all cables on HDD and power
- If still not working, replace the HDD

How to replace a SSD?
A
It is much like replacing an expansion card, unscrewing the screws, popping out the SSD, taking it out, putting the new one in and lining it up and screwing it in. Ensure you have backed up the data prior to replacing it.

Can you use some HDD’s in a laptop in desktop and vice versa?

How to replace a HDD?
A
- Find the screws, unscrew
- Remove the SATA connector from pins and the ZIF ribbon connector
- If the HDD is in a caddy remove that
- Put the new HDD in the new caddy
- Place the new HDD in the laptop lining up the holes for screws
- Screw it in and connect the cables and pins and SCATA and ZIF
- Ensure you backed up all data for the customer
