Laptop keyboards are compact and can be missing or condensed keys into single ones.

ZIF cables and ribbons.
Why are newer keyboard laptops so hard to replace?
Because you need to solder them.
How does one replace an older laptop keyboard?
- Older laptops were easy to replace keyboards and required simply disabling the plastic chassis and taking off the front bevel.
- Take the old keyboard out by removing the screws.
- Remove the ribbon cable.
- Put the new one in place with the old.
How does one replace a trackpad?
- Removing the front bevel of the laptop.
- Unscrew the screws, and plug them back in with the ZIF cable.
What is essential you make sure when replacing a keyboard?
Ensure the exact form factor and model as the old one.
How do you replace single keys in a laptop?
Use tweezers and pull the key cap off and maybe the retainer clip too if needed, and simply clip them on.
What is easier and cheaper, replacing a new laptop keyboard or buying a new laptop (if it is over 2 years old)?
Buying a new laptop.
