what is the peripheral nervous system?
involves motor and sensory nerves and divided in voluntary and involuntary
what do sensory nurones do?
sends impulses from muscles to CNS
what do motor neurones do?
sends impulses from the CNS to muscles
what is a synapse?
a gap between neurones
what is synaptic transmission?
one neurone sending information to another
what is an axon?
carries electrical impulses
what is the axon terminal?
allows neurones to conduct electrical impulses down to another neurone
what is the myelin?
insulating layer
allows electrical impulses to transmit quickly and efficiently
what is the node of raniver?
allows ions to diffuse in and out of the neurone
what is the swann cell?
maintaining the peripheral nervous system
what is the soma?
maintains neurones structure and provides energy
what is the nucleus?
controls the cell
