Causes
Types of trauma

A

Cause:
- malposition or too large for pelvic outlet
- manual manoeuvres, e.g. forceps, ventouse (vacuum) delivery

Types:
Soft tissue:
- Caput succedaneum
- Cephalohaematoma
- Bruising, abrasion, forcep marks to face
- Subaponeurotic hemorrhage

Nerve palsy
- Brachial nerve: Erb’s palsy +/- Phrenic nerve palsy
- Facial nerve palsy
- Cord lesion

Fracture:
- Clavicle from shoulder dystocia
- Humerus/ Femur fracture from breech delivery/ shoulder dystocia
