cx: sterility, ectopic pregnancies, abcesses, peritonitis, perihepatitis, salpingitis
c. men and women: gonococcal bacteremia, septic arthritis
d. neonates: opthalia neonatorum conjuctivitis (usu erupts in first 5 days)
Treatment for Neisseria gonorrhoeae?
- 1st line
a. 3rd gen C’sporins (ceftriaxone)+ doxycycline for chlamydia and syphilis - 2nd line ( not efective for syphilis)
a. fluoroquinolones
b. spectinomycin - opthalmia neonatorum
a. erythromycin eye drops prophylaxis
b. w/disease: ceftriaxone + erythromycin serum for chlamydia
