What are the clinical manifestations of Borrelia burgdorferi?
A
1.Lyme Disease
a. early localized stage (1): erythema
chronicum migrans (ECM)
b. early disseminated stage (2): multiple
smaller ECMs, aseptic meningitis, CN
palsies (Bell’s), peripheral neuropathy,
transient heart block or myocariditis,
brief arthritis attacks of large joints
c. late stage (3): chronic arthritis,
encephalopathy

What are the treatments for Borrelia burgdorferi?
A
- doxycycline (acute)
- amoxicillin (acute)
- ceftriaxone for neurologic
disease - penicillin G (chronic)
