Improves combat readiness and reduces aircraft mishaps. Issued by the CNO. Include general flight and operating instructions and emergency procedures.

General aircraft pre start precautions
- Wheels will be chocked, parking brake set.
- Intake screens shall be installed on jet aircraft.
- Surrounding ground/deck shall be inspected for FOD
- Aircraft with no parking brakes shall be tied down when starting for testing or warm up purposes.
- When an engine is started, personnel with adequate fire extinguishing equipment will stand by.
“warning” as it applies to NATOPS
An operating procedure, practice or condition that may result in injury or death if not carefully observed or followed.
“Caution” as it applies to NATOPS
An operating procedure, practice or condition that may result in damage to equipment if not carefully observed or followed.
“Note” as it applies to NATOPS
An operating procedure practice or condition that must be emphasized
“Shall” as it applies to NATOPS
A procedure that is mandatory
“Should” as it applies to NATOPS
A procedure that is recommended
“May” as it applies to NATOPS
The procedure is optional
“Will” as it applies to NATOPS
Indicates futurity and never indicate any degree of requirements
Purpose of a NATOPS evaluation
Intended to evaluate individual and command compliance by observing and grading adherence to NATOPS procedures
State the purpose of Naval Flight Records Subsystem (NAVFLIRS)
OPNAV 3710/4, AKA yellow sheet, collects flight activity data in support of the maintenance data system MDS.
Purpose of master flight files
The only official flights record of navel aircraft. Shall be maintained in accordance with OPNAVINST 3710.7
Explain the aircraft visual identification system.
Aircraft markings and side numbers that identify aircraft from one unit to another. Used for rapid identification.
