Natops ch. 7 Flashcards
LDS roll pin warning
Improper installation of the LDS roll pin may result in an engine overspeed
Loss of hydraulics bay cover warning
Winds over 10 knots or nearby jet blast can blow off the hydraulics bay cover in transit or in the open position
Hydraulic pump quick disconnect warning
Failure to verify security of QD may result in malfuntion of pilot assist servos or loss of tail rotor control
Oil levels with tail pylon folded
Cannot get an accurate level for IGB/TGB
Red tint or overserviced tail gearbox
Possible contamination with hydraulic fluid
Moving flight controls without first or second stage pressure on the primary servos
May cause damage to the flight controls
Stab automatically programing in high winds
With greater than 30 knots and AC power, the stab can automatically program and cause damage if the stab is folded. Consider disengaging auto mode with the stab folded
Rotor brake with unsecured folded blades
Releasing the rotor brake with unsecured folded blades may result in damage, and/or all four blades rotating together may result in aircraft rollover.
New IR flame detectors
Will have up to 5 second delay in extinguishing of t handle using fire detr knob
APU exhaust near other aircraft equipment
May affect and cause possible damage
Fire extinguisher switch with no AC power
Only reserve position will work
Time between APU starts
To prevent an APU exhaust fire, wait at least 2 minutes after APU shutdown to attempt a restart to allow residual fuel to vaporize.
Needed to keep APU BIT codes
Batt switch on and APU CTRL switch on
Switch required to get PB/INDIC switch to DIM
INST LTS PILOT FLT knob
Pylon Flight light not illuminated
the pylon and stabilator lockpins and the tail rotor indexer shall be visually inspected prior to flight. Failure to do so may cause seperation of the tail pylon.
Rotor spread light
Illumination of the rotor spread light may not be an accurate indication of the blades being properly spread. Rotor engagement with improperly spread blades may result in catastrophic rotor failure.
Holding blade fold switch longer than 5-7 seconds
may cause the blade fold lockpins to fully retract, resulting in an uncommanded blade fold and possible damage to the aircraft.
Uncommanded blade fold when moving to spread
BLADE FOLD MASTER switch off
Rotor spread light off and possible Spread incomplete caution
The aircraft can be safely flown as long as a proper head check is performed
Head Check
Blade lock pins engaged
Pitch lock pins retracted
Gust lock disengaged
CHIP IBIT, WCAs and MASTER CAUTION
Will not correctly respond for approximately 40 seconds
