Establishes setting and introduces character
What is the build up?
Relationships established- development of characters and their world
What is the problem?
A series of dilemmas or complications the character has to overcome/ faced with an obstacle and a mystery to solve
What is the event?
Series of events that the character trues to overcome, solve the problem and discover the truth
What is the resolution?
Protagnoists are victorious, problems are solved
What is the ending?
Characters reflect on events, relationships are solved and looked forward

The chronological sequence of events in a narrative

Audience will know more than the character
unrestricted - the audience has multiple camera points of view where the camera is omniscient

May be telling the audience the whole truth- deceiving the truth

Audience has a better knowledge than the character
