Familial: HLA DRB11501 or HLADQB10602 genes

Orexin deficiency: peptide which promotes wake regions of the brain and prevents inappropriate transitions to sleep

symptoms

A

-Cataplexy: sudden collapse due to muscle weakness caused by strong emotion of laughter
can be total- whole body or partial- face-limbs
-XS daytime sleeping
-sleep paralysis
-hypnagogic hallucinations: between sleep and consciousness- visual, auditory and tactile
