N13 Flashcards
What is the half-life of N13?
10 minutes
What are the energies of N13?
1.19 MeV (positron) and 511 keV (gamma)
N13 Ammonia
It is indicated for diagnostic imaging of the myocardium under rest or pharmacologic stress conditions to evaluate myocardial perfusion in patients with suspected or existing coronary artery disease.
N13 Ammonia Clinical Pharmacology
It is extracted from the blood in the coronary capillaries into the myocardial cells where it is metabolized to glutamine N-13 and retained in the cells. The presence of ammonia N13 and glutamine N13 in the myocardium allows for PET imaging of the myocardium.
N13 Ammonia Dose & Administration
10-20 mCi through IV
optimal imaging can be achieved between 10-20 minutes after administration.
What is N13 Ammonia indicated for?
rest or stress myocardial perfusion
What does N13 metabolize into?
Glutamine N13 in the coronary capillaries
What type of patients would go under this scan?
Patients suspected of coronary artery disease.
