Q

F18 Amyvid Florbetapir Clinical Pharmacology

A

Florbetapir F18 diffuses across the blood brain barrier and produces a radioactivity signal detectable throughout the brain, and it binds to beta amyloid plaques. A negative scan shows no sign of neuritic plaques. A positive scan shows an increase of activity in the frontal lobe.

Q

F18 FDG Clinical Pharmacology

A

concentrates in cells that need glucose. Glucose transporting proteins transport FDG through the cell membrane and is then phosphylated by hexokinase.

13
Q

F18 Fluciclovine Axumin Clinical Pharmacology

A

Fluciclovine is a synthetic amino acid that gets transported across the mammalian cells by the amino acid transporters. These transporters uptake in prostate cancer cells, and F18 uptake is greater compared to normal tissue cells. A positive scan shows high PSA values.

16
Q

F18 NaF Clinical Pharmacolgy

A

Fluoride F18 ion accumulates in the skeleton in an even distribution fashion. There is greater despostion in the axial skeleton than the appendicular skeleton and greater despostion in the bones around the joints than the shafts of the long bones. An increased F18 ion occurs in bone areas of ostengenic areas during growth, infection, and inflammation of the bone.

17
Q

F18 NaF Dose & Administration

A

8-12 mCi through IV and 0.5 mCi for pediatrics.

After administration, drink plenty of water and image an hour after injection.

18
Q

F18 Neuraceq Florbetaben

A

PET imaging for the brain to estimate neural plaques in patients with Alzheimer’s Disease and other cognitive decline.

19
Q

F18 Neuraceq Florbetaben Clinical Pharmacolgoy

A

Florbetaben binds with beta amyloids plaques and produces a signal that can be detected by the PET scanner. However, neither Neuraceq and Florbetaban does not bind to tau and AT8 positive tau. Neuraceq crosses the blood brain barrier and shows differential regions that contain beta amyloid deposits. A positive scan shows higher uptake in grey matter than white matter.

20
Q

F18 Neuraceq Florbetaben Dose & Administration

A

8 mCi through IV

21
Q

F18 Tauvid Florataucipir

A

PET imaging for the brain to estimate density and distribution of neurofibrillary tangles in patients suspected of having Alzheimer’s Disease.

22
Q

F18 Tauvid Florataucipir Clinical Pharmacology

A

Florataucipir binds to tau proteins, which aggregates to form NFTs - an indication of Alzheimer’s Disease. In vitro, florataucipir binds to paired helical filaments from brain homogenates. In vivo, florataucipir binds differently in areas containing aggregated tau. A positive scan will show an increase activity in PLT, occipital, or parietal regions.

23
Q

F18 Tauvid Florataucipir Dose & Administration

A

10 mCi through IV

A 20 min scan is done after 80 min post-injection

24
Q

F18 Vizamyl Flutemetamol

A

PET imaging for the brain to estimate neuritic plaques

25
Q

F18 Vizamyl Flutemetamol Clinical Pharmacology

A

Flutemetamol binds to beta amyloid plaques and produces a positron signal. It binds to fibrillar beta amyloid in post mortem brain. A positive scan shows an increase activity in frontal, lateral, and parietal lobes.

26
Q

F18 Vizamyl Flutemetamol Dose & Administration

A

5 mCi though bolus IV within 40 seconds. Contraindications include hypersensitivity to vizamyl.
A 20 min scan is done after 90 min post injection.
