Q

In111 Chloride Capromab Pendetide ProstaScint

A

Indicated as a diagnostic imaging agent in newly-diagnosed patients with biopsy-proven cancer, thought to be clinically-localized after standard diagnostic evaluation who are at high-risk for pelvic lymph node metastastes. It is also indicated as an imaging agent in postprostatectomy patients with rising PSA and a negative or equivocal standard metastatic evaluation in whom there is a high clinical suspicion of occult metastatic disease.

Q

In111 Chloride Capromab Pendetide Clinical Pharmacology

A

It is expressed in many primary and metastatic prostate cancer lesions, and in vitro immunohistologic studies have shown 7E11-C5.3 to be reactive with over 95% of the prostate adenocarcinomas evaluated.

Q

In111 DTPA Pentetate Clinical Pharmacology

A

It is absorbed from the subarachnoid space and the remainder flows superiorly to the basal cisterns within 2 to 4 hours. It will subsequently will be apparent in the Sylvian cisterns, the interhemispheric cisterns, and over the cerebral convexities.

Q

In111 Oxyquinolone (Oxine) Clinical Pharmacology

A

Indium forms a saturated (1:3) complex with oxyquinoline. The complex is neutral and lipid-soluble, which enables it to penetrate the cell membrane. Within the cell, indium becomes firmly attached to cytoplasmic components; the liberated oxyquinoline is released by the cell. It is thought likely that the mechanism of
labeling cells with oxyquinoline involves an exchange reaction between the oxyquinoline carrier
and subcellular components which chelate indium more strongly than oxyquinoline

Q

In111 Penetetreotide (OctreoScan) Clinical Pharmacology

A

Pentetreotide is a DTPA conjugate of octreotide, which is a long-acting analog of the human hormone, somatostatin. It binds to somatostatin receptors on cell surfaces throughout the body. Within an hour of injection, most of the dose
distributes from plasma to extravascular body tissues and concentrates in tumors containing a high density of somatostatin receptors. After background clearance, visualization of somatostatin receptor-rich tissue is achieved. In addition to somatostatin receptor-rich tumors, the normal pituitary gland, thyroid gland, liver, spleen and urinary bladder also are visualized in most patients, as is the bowel, to a lesser extent.
