Muscles of the Forearm + Hand Flashcards
Where do muscles that move the forearm and hand originate and insert? Except for?
Originate on the humerus, insert on the forearm, except for the major flexor, biceps brachii + and major extensor, triceps brachii
What are the flexors of the elbow? (3)
Biceps brachii, Brachialis, and Brachioradialis
What are the extensors of the elbow? (2)
Triceps brachii, Aconeus
What is the action of Biceps Brachii? Where does is originate + insert?
- Flexes elbow + Stabilizes shoulder joint
2. Originates in the scapula, Inserts on radial tuberosity
What does the Brachialis do?
Assists in flexion at the elbow
What does the brachioradialis do?
Assists in flexion at the elbow
What does the Triceps brachii do? Where does it originate + insert?
- Extends elbow
2. Originates in the scapula, Inserts on olecranon
What does the Aconeus do?
Opposese the brachialis, assists in extension.
What are the flexors of the wrist?
Palmaris Longus, Flexor carpi ulnaris, Flexor carpi radialis
What are the extensors of the wrist?
Extensor carpi ulnaris, Extensor carpi radialis
What does the Palmaris Longus do?
Flexes wrist (superficial)
What does the Flexor carpi ulnaris do?
Flexes wrist and adducts wrist (superficial)
What does the Flexor carpi radialis do?
Flexes wrist and abducts wrist (superficial)
What does the Extensor carpi ulnaris do?
Extends wrist and abducts wrist (superficial)
What does the Extensor carpi radialis do?
Extends wrist and adducts wrist (superficial)
