ms 7 Flashcards
grasps and manip. requires
Visual, proprioceptive and tactile input are required for the child to perform within‐hand manipulation and dexterity tasks + GRASPS
dynamic tripod
o dynamic tripod
♣ Ulnar border support, wrist in ext + moving during writing, pencil on middle finger + thumb for stability, index for pencil control
hand pref
5y
MANIP =
This is the foundation for purposeful play, development of motor planning and learning.
manip timeline
8 = WATCHES, REACHES AND GRAPS DANGLING OBJECT 12M = index starts 18 = 3-4 cubes, intrinsic some sup/pronation for feeding but more refined by 2yrs, 4 pegs in whole 2y = 4 beads with large holes, 6 cubes 3 = 6 bed 4 = Can thread 5 beads (1cm) in 30‐50 seconds(child develops efficiency). Isolated lumbrical action 6y = 8 beads ^. Push tooth picks in Styrofoam (15 in <45secs) – looks for overpressure (breaking) and underpressure
throwing
THROWING
2y = forearm ext only
3y = throw ball overhead
5y = immature underarm pattern
6y = throw tennis ball w/ trunk rot and weight shift
7-8y = early sports, sprot specific throwing skills
running
- Patella is internally rotated = suspect femoral anteversion
- Patella forward, but medial malleoli directed medially suspect tibial torsion
- Patella forward, ankle malleoli in coronal plane, but forefoot directed medially suspect metatarsus adductus
Foot progression angle =
Angle from the foot to the line of progression in gait
- Medial > later : -5 > 20˚ is normall
femoral anteversion values
- Hips: Medial Rotation (B) • Prone hip ROM • Normal = 20-60° • > 70° = femoral anteversion
- Lateral Rotation (C) • Prone hip ROM • Normal = 30-60° • < 20° = femoral anteversion
Tibial torsion =
Normal = O° to 30° • If < -10° = tibial torsion
