ms 10 Flashcards
TACTILE/SENSATION
Registration: - INITIAL AWARENESS OF SENSORY INFO
- AWARENESS/DETECTION OF TOUCH
Perception: TO UNDERSTAND, INTERPRET OR GIVE MEANING TO STIMULUS
2. PROCESSING WHERE (SPATIAL), WHEN (TEMPORAL), MODALITY SPECIFIC (TEXTURE) ASPECTSl
TACTILE PERCEPTION:
SPATIAL (Single point loc, 2 point discrim., double simulatenous), texture, haptic (sterognosis), tempora
tactile ages
4m = can detect touch, 8m = respond by looking (perception 4y = where touched without vision
registration test
(tests initial detection of stim.) = 4+ SWM intruments
Touch approx 10 points using approx 3-4 sham trials, start with 4 and work way down till 7/10 right
Single point localisation
= 4ys = adequate local., 5 = exact identif.
- Do 10 times
- Test unilateral, unidermatomal spatial tactile perception
Double simultaneous =
Ability to identify the location of 2 simultaneous tactile stimuli applied. This test is an assessment of bilateral multi-dermatomal spatial tactile perception.
4y = common to constantly supress 1 stim. 5 = occasionally supress 6 = no supress – indicate double stim
Touch in 10
= registration, single point loc, double simultaneous
Prop/SENSATION
R: - INITIAL AWARENESS OF SENSORY INFO
- AWARENESS/DETECTION OF POSITION/MVMT
P: TO UNDERSTAND, INTERPRET OR GIVE MEANING TO STIMULUS
2. PROCESSING WHERE (SPATIAL), WHEN (TEMPORAL), MODALITY SPECIFIC (WEIGHT) ASPECTS, HAPTIC (STEROGNOSIS)
prop perception:
Joint position (position copy and position matching), haptc ((sterognosis), joint mvmt, weight
MP:
= cognitive processes strongly linked to perception; involve interpretation of sensory info to plan an action, impacted by intention
3 stages of MP
- Cognitive = learning what to do – frequent errors, still thinking and learning
- Associative = refining movment pattern –errors no longer major, can acknowledge erros and correct, technique automatic
- Autonomous = developing skill - mvmt automatic, doesn’t think, little errors, hard to reteach if incorrect
