What are the steps to using Finder to transfer data from your previous iOs device to your new iPhone or iPad?
- Back up data from previous iPhone/iPad
- Turn on new device. A “Hello” screen should appear
- Follow the steps until “Apps & Data” screen appears
- Tap Restore from Mac or PC
- Connect new device to the computer or Mac
- Open Finder/Apple Devices/iTunes and select your device
- Select Restore Backup. Choose the latest backup of your previous device
- Enter password if it’s an encrypted backup
- Wait for process to finish, then complete the rest of the setup on your new iPhone/iPad
What are the steps to transfer your data to your new iPhone or iPad with your old device, through iCloud
- Make sure both devices are connected to a Wi-Fi network, Bluetooth is turned on, and they’re both plugged into a power source. Both should be near each other
- Turn on new device, “Hello” screen should appear, Follow onscreen instructions until Quick Start screen appears
- Follow steps on your old device to scan an animation (on new device) with the camera
- Continue on your new device when prompted and enter the passcode of your old device
- When you reach Transfer Your Data screen, tap Download from iCloud
If you don’t have your old device, you can still download from an iCloud backup when “Transfer Your Apps & Data” appears and by tapping “From iCloud Backup”
