Q

WHEN DOES THE STEPPING REFLEX STOP?

Q

WHAT DID THELEN RESEARCH AND FIND?

A

Research the stepping reflex. Adding weight to the childs ankle stopped the stepping reflex and if they were added to water where the water supported their weight, the stepping reflex came back.

Q

REACHING:

A

All components (stable arm, arm control) need to assemble for a successful reach. Once a child gains ability to sit up, the reach is more stable.

Q

LIBERTUS AND NEEDHAM 2010

A

Sticky mittens study. Children used them for 10 minutes for 2 weeks to help them reach and grasp for things. Grasp was increased and they reached a lot more in comparison to their peers.

Q

WHO CONDUCTED THE SLOPE STUDY?

A

Karen Adolph

18
Q

WHAT DID THE SLOPE STUDY FIND?

A

Infants do not transfer crawling knowledge to walking.
10/15 walkers plunged down the slope even though they were cautious crawlers about the slopes.
Crawlers can’t match perception ability to action ability.
