CONTRAINDICATIONS
morphine
- hypersensitivity to morphine or other opioid analgesics
DOSAGE - ADULT
morphine
ACP - symptom relief in palliative (end-of-life) - pain or SOB
0.1mg/kg SC or 2.5-5mg SC
repeat q 10-30mins as required based on BP (>100 mmHg) or per care team plan

Pharmacodynamics
morphine
- acts on opiod receptors (mu receptors) in the CNS to produce analgesia, euphoria and sedation
- interaction w/ receptors in spinal cord - depresses pain transmission
- produces venodilation
- reduces cardiac preload

duration - 3-4hrs
