Pathogenisis

A

Attaches to stomach membrane

  1. Attached to membrane of stomach lining cells and multiplies
  2. mucus layer thins due to inclination toxin secretion
  3. Loss of mucus layer results in stomach lining vulnerable to perforations by gastric juice (perforation from acid)
  4. Once compromised bacteria invades underlying muscle tissues and blood vessels.
  5. Cells are phagocytes; survives action of catalase and SOD.
