What do monocytes look like?
larges WBC, with large elongated, lobulated, or indented lacey nucleuses. grey-blue cytoplasm and cytoplasmic projections (pseudopodia)
what is the function of monocytes?
phagocytosis and digestion of cellular debris
what are two substances monocytes produce?
transferrin and interferron
what is transferrin?
protien that transports iron
what is interferron?
protiens formed when body is exposed to viral AG
Monocytes are antigen presenting cells, what does that mean?
before Ab are produced, monocytes can present Ag to lymphocytes
what is ameboid?

what are macrophaes?
cells that ingest bacteria and other foreighn substances
how long do monocytes travel in the blood?
24-36 hours
what is unique about macrophages out of all WBC?
they are able to undergo cell division
In D/C/S/G/H/ and cow how many monocytes is normal?
0-10%
