Module 5: Lesson 4 - Lesson plan 2 Flashcards
Revise: steps to take in a skills-based lesson plan.
The first section of the lesson is the lead-in, where we will get an idea of what the student already knows and any gaps in their knowledge. The teacher shows the learner some images of people doing hobbies and tries to elicit the lesson topic.
The next stage is the pre-reading. The teacher will show the learner the text but they won’t read it just yet. Instead, the teacher will ask the learner to look at the layout and images on the page and try to predict what the text is about.
The next stage is while reading. This is where the actual reading is done. The teacher will ask the learner to read the text, but before that, they will pre-teach any difficult vocabulary that the learner may not know.
The second part of the while reading stage is the comprehension questions. Once the learner has read the text, they can complete the comprehension questions on page2 of the materials by reading the text to find the answers.
The final stage is post reading. Here, the teacher invites the learner to answer the questions which ask about the student’s own hobbies and opinions. Once they have finished, discuss the answers together and error correct any language to do with hobbies.
