What are the 6 principles of teaching online?
A
- Set clear expectations and learning goals: students should be punctual, be respectful of teacher and other learners, etc. Teachers should dress appropriately, be prepared, etc.
- Plan lessons like normal, but adapt them for an online setting: breakout rooms, managing group sessions, props used, timing, etc.
- Keep the students engaged by using a variety of tasks: you need more materials to keep learners engaged.
- Make sure the content is relative: has to be relevant to age, cultural background, needs, and have value.
- Include as much STT as possible: all students must contribute, ask them to read, answer questions, or complete tasks.
- Make online classroom a safe learning environment: all students are equal and must be respectful, mindful of different beliefs and cultures.
