IBS criteria

- improvement with defecation
- change in frequency of stool
- change in appearance of stool

diverticulosis: what is it, pathogenesis, risk factor
many false diverticula of the colon, commonly sigmoid; elevated intraluminal pressure in the sigmoid colon; diets low in fiber
dx: periumbilical pain that migrates to the RLQ
acute appendicitis
where does ischemic colitis typically occur? (2)
watershed zones: splenic flexure, distal colon
compare collagenous colitis with lymphocytic colitis
collagenous colitis has a dense subepithelial collagen layer, lymphocytic colitis is associated with celiac disase and autoimmune diseases
