Describe the positive thinking technique of mental rehearsal
Also called self-talk
You think positively about past experiences and performances and future efforts by talking to yourself or thinking through how successful you might be
Describe selective attention
It is where you focus on the important information in the environment and ignore information that is not directly related to your performance
What factors affect selective attention?
Relevance - how important the information is to the performance
Expectation - what you think is going to happen based on information you take in
Vividness - how much information stands out
Describe mental rehearsal
You imagine yourself doing the activity - going through any possible things that could happen in an event and how you will deal with them
Describe imagery
Creating a picture in your mind of a movement or feeling that can help you relax and reduce stress
