16
Q

What is the algorithm for adults for meningitis

17
Q

Give me the microbiology for neonates and children

18
Q

Tell me the microbiology for adults and other predisposition factors

19
Q

What are the empiric therapies for meningitis

A

Cefotaxamine to avoid hyperbilirubin cause of not good kidney in kids

for kids its strep agalactaie so thats why no vanco and they add on ampicillin. ampicillin is also for the listeria coverage. We need to know dosing for these as well

20
Q

Tell me about antibiotic CSF penetration

21
Q

Tell me about the therapy based on presumptive pathogen identified by a + gram stain

A

This ties together with card 19, knowing the bug lets you choose what to select for ur empiric regimine

22
Q

Give me the definitive therapy for meningitis (1)

A

If the strep pneumo is susceptible to all antibiotics give that mf penicillin G

23
Q

Give me the definitive therapy for meningitis (2)

23
Q

What are the recommended antibiotic dosages ?

A

the parentheses is the duration while the dose is for the whole day. for example for cefepime adults total for the day is 6 grams but divided by 8 is 2 g every 8 hours for 6 grams total for the day.

YOU HAVE TO KNOW DOSING

24
Q

What is the duration of therapy for meningitis?

25
Q

Tell me about corticosteroid therapy (1)

26
Q

Tell me about corticosteroid therapy (2)

27
Q

Tell me about antimicrobial prophylaxis

28
Q

Tell me about meningitis disease risk

A

Know this who is susceptible and this is VERY specific to Neisseria, so if its not neisseria not really need a prophylaxis.

29
Q

What is antimicrobial prophylaxis and its duration and doses and age range

30
Q

Tell me what you collect and assess

31
Q

Tell me what you plan, implement and follow up on

32
Q

Tell me the overall summary on the chart
