Q

What happens in the first division of Meiosis?

A

The chromosome pairs line up in the centre of the cell.
The pairs are then pulled apart, so each of the 2 new cells formed from this division has only one copy of each chromosome.

Q

What happens in the second division of Meiosis?

A

The chromosomes line up again in the centre of the 2 new cells produced from the first devision.
The arms of the chromosomes are then pulled apart in each of these 2 cells to form 4 new gametes, each with only a single set of chromosomes in it
