Meiosis Flashcards
Mitosis vs meiosis
Mitosis diploid - 2diploid(identical)
Miosis - diploid - 4 haploid cells (not identical)
Interphase parts
G1- cell growth recover and regular cell functions
S - trigger send cell into s phase where dna synthesis or replication occurs
G2- trigger sends into g2 to prep for division - make spindle fibers and make centrioles and spindle fibers and extra organelles.
Mitosis prophase
Nuclear envelope disappears
Metaphase mitosis
Line up sister chromosomes on line
Anaphase mitosis
Seperate sister chromosomes
And split the apart begin to drag them
Telophase
Start to reform nuclear membrane and cell membrane begins to divide
Where does genetic diversity take place in meiosis
Prophase 1 - crossover
Metaphase 1 - random assortment
Random fertilization afterwords
Telomere
Tip of the chromosome
Protective helmet
Centromeric región
Center
Where the he kinetochore protien can lach on top to help pull it apart
Sister chromatides
Duplicated chromosomes
One side is a chromitid
Homogeneous chromosomes
2 of the same chromosomes but from different parents
Crossing over
Metaphase 1
Tetrad forms with 2 sister chromotids / 4 chromoitids come together
Synaptonemal complex: protien clonolex that’s holds the chromosomes together
Chiasma is where the crossing over actually occurs
Synapses ( all of it sort of together)
Random assortment
Metaphase 1
Randomly putting chromosomes on sides
There are 8 million different possibilities
Ex
Dad mom
Dad mom
Mom dad
Dad. Mom
Metaphase 1
Only homologous chromosomes lined up
Metaphase 2
Only sister chromatids line up
